Wolken und Gras

Heute möchte ich einen weiteren Trick zum Szenestempeln mit euch teilen. Es geht hierbei um die "Hintergrundgestaltung" von Szenen. Habt ihr euch bereits im Szenestempeln versucht? Dann werdet ihr sicher bemerkt haben, dass die Szene etwas leblos wirkt, wenn der Hintergrund einfach weiß bleibt.

Today I want to share a trick for scenic stamping with you. It's about the "background layout" for scenes. Did you try to stamp a scene yet? Then you will know that scenes are kind of lifeless if the background is just white.

Um dieses zu ändern, benötigt ihr am besten Kreide (es gehen aber auch Stempelkissen), Schablonen für Wolken und ggf. Gras und ein Wattepad.

To change this you need chalk (you can also use ink pads), templates for clouds and if you want grass and a cotton pad.

Nachdem ihr eure Szene coloriert habt, schwebt diese sozusagen in der Luft, was man auf dem Bild oben gut erkennen kann. Natürlich könnt ihr jetzt beigehen und den Himmel und eine Wiese mit eurem Coloriermedium auftragen. Bei mir wellt sich das Papier mit den Aquarellstiften aber zu sehr. Also nehme ich meine Wolkenschablone (ihr könnt entweder ein Stanzteil nehmen oder euch eben eine Wolke per Hand ausschneiden), mein Watterpad...

After coloring your scene your image is "hanging in the air" as you can see in the picture above. Of course you can color your sky and meadows with your color medium as well. I can't because the paper is fluting when I color big spaces with my watercolor pencils. This is why I take my cloud template (you can use a die cut or make a cloud template by hand), my cotton pad...

... und hellblaue Kreide und wische mit dem Pad am oberen Rand meiner Wolkenschablone entlang. Manchmal muss man auch ein bisschen kräftiger wischen, das kommt immer ganz auf die Kreide drauf an.

... and my light blue chalk and wipe my pad over the cloud's top edging. Sometimes you have to wipe with more pressure. You have to test your chalks out.

Hier seht ihr meine erste Wolke. Mit der Kreide hat man nur einen leichten Abdruck, wenn ihr ein Stempelkissen nehmt, dann solltet ihr möglichst darauf achten, dass ihr helle Farben nehmt und vor allem erst einmal auf einem Schmierpapier testet. Die Kreide kann man im schlimmsten Fall wieder wegradieren, mit dem Stempelkissen ruiniert man sich das Motiv, wenn es schief geht.

Here you can see my first cloud. You get a smooth print with chalk. If you take ink pads please use lighter colors and try it out on scratch paper before you add the color to your image. You can rub away chalk but not ink!

Danach lege ich die Wolkenschablone immer wieder neu an und wische die oberen Ränder mit der hellblauen Kreide. Die Wolkenschablone drehe ich dabei ab und an auch mal um, damit die Wolken nicht alle gleich aussehen.

After that I add my template again and again to my first cloud and wipe the cloud's top edging with my light blue chalk. I turn my cloud template from time to time so that I don't get all the same clouds.

So mache ich weiter, bis der Himmel komplett voll mit Wolken ist. Danach verwische ich die Kreidewolken noch ein wenig mit dem bereits benutzten Wattepad, damit keine Krümel mehr auf dem Papier liegen. Ein schöner Sommertag! Für einen Regentag würde ich graue Kreide nehmen und für Halloweenkarten/Nachtszenen habe ich auch schon dunkelblau/grau/schwarz gemischt.

This is the way I add more clouds until the sky is full of them. After that I wipe with a smooth pressure over my chalk clouds so rub away all the little chalk crumbs and to blend the clouds. What a wonderful summery day! I would use grey chalk for rainy days and I used dark blue/grey and black chalks for Halloween and night scenes in the past.

Für die Wiese habe ich mir mit dem Martha Stewart Eiszapfenstanzer einen Rand gestanzt, den ich als Schablone für Gras nehmen kann. Hier kann man genau so mit einem Wattepad und natürlich grüner Kreide über die Schablone wischen...

For the meadow I punched out a border with the Martha Stewart Icicle punch which I can take as template for my grass now. Here you can also use a cotton pad to wipe and green chalk...

... und erhält ein entsprechendes Muster. Ich persönlich nutze für die Wiese keine Schablone sondern...

... wische die Fläche einfach mit grüner Kreide. Wer aber lieber ein Grasmuster in der Wiese haben möchte, für den ist die Schablone sicher eine Idee.

Hier habe ich einfach mit dunkelgrüner Kreide noch einmal das Grasmuster gewischt. Leider hatte ich kein passendes dunkles Grün, aber so sieht man es auf dem Bild auch besser.

Here I added a grass pattern with dark green chalk later. Unfortunately I didn't have a matching dark green but now you can see it better on the pic.

Ich hoffe, ich konnte euch mit diesem Tipp dem Szenestempeln noch ein bisschen näher bringen. Am Samstag sind wir dann wieder mit einer neuen SEME Ausgabe für euch da!

Stempelsetzer / Stamp Positioner

Ein Stempelsetzer ermöglicht es euch, eure Motive genau dort abzustempeln, wo ihr sie haben möchtet. Heute zeige ich euch, wie das geht :)

A stamp positioner is a tool that allows you to place your images exactly where you want them to be. Today I will show you how to do it :)

Zuerst müsst ihr euer Motiv mit Stempelfarbe einfärben. Ich verwende ein Stempelgummi, das bereits auf einem Acryl-Block haftet.

First of all you have to ink your motive. I use one that already sticks on an acrylic block.

Der Stempelsetzer besteht aus zwei Acryl-Teilen: Ein Teil in L-Form, das andere Teil ist eine dünne Platte. Die dünne Platte wird nun, wie auf dem Bild zu sehen, an das L exakt angelegt.

A stamp positioner is an acrylic tool consisting of an L-shaped piece and a flat plate. Place your L-shape and plate together as shown in the photo. Make sure that the plate is fitted as tightly as possible to the L-shape.

Nun wird das eingefärbte Stempelmotiv (bzw. der Block auf dem das Motiv haftet) exakt an die Ecke angelegt und somit einmal auf die Platte abgedrückt.

Position your inked stamp, fitting tight to the corner and make an impression on the plate.

Das gewünschte Motiv ist nun auf der Platte abgestempelt.

Ich habe bereits eine Tür auf ein Blatt Papier gestempelt. Nun möchte ich, dass das Shop-Fenster dazu passt und auf gleicher Höhe abgestempelt wird. Ich lege also die Platte mit dem abgestempelten Motiv so auf, daß
sie zur Türe passt.

I already stamped a door onto a sheet of paper. Now I want to include the shop window. I have to position the plate as shown on the photo to get the perfect placement of the image.

Nun wird das L exakt an die Ecke der Platte angelegt!

The plate has to fit again as tight as possible to the corner of the L-shape.

Im nächsten Schritt wird die Platte durch den Acryl-Block mit dem eingefärbten Stempelgummi ersetzt. Das Motiv wird also direkt auf das Papier abgedrückt.

Remove the plate. Your L still remains. Carefully position your inked motive tight to the corner of your L and press down. Your image is now exactly where you want to have it!

Auf die gleiche Art und Weise kann nun noch eine Schaufensterdekoration integriert werden.

Szenestempeln/Maskieren

Es ist wieder Samstag, d. h. es ist Zeit für eine neue Ausgabe vom Stempeleinmaleins. Heute möchte ich euch erklären wie man maskiert und mit dieser Technik mehrere Stempelmotive zu einer Szene kombiniert.

It's Saturday again and this means it's time for an new issue of Stempeleinmaleins. Today I want to show you how to mask and how to stamp scenes with different images.

Mit dieser Technik kann man mit mehreren Stempeln immer wieder neue kleine oder auch große Szenen stempeln. Je nachdem, ob man Gefallen daran findet. Ihr könnt es ja mal ausprobieren:

With this technique you can combine different images to create smaller or bigger scenes which can be different every time. Just like you want. Try it now:

Zuerst sucht ihr euch die Motive aus, die ihr für eure Szene nutzen möchtet. Stempelt dann das Hauptmotiv auf euer Papier (Karteikarte, Cardstock, Aquarellpapier,...) und ebenfalls einmal auf dünnes Papier, z. B. 80g Papier oder große Post-It's. Es gibt auch richtiges Maskenpapier, welches auf der Rückseite durchgehend haftet.

First you have to choose the images which you want to take for your scene. Then stamp your main image on your paper (cardstock, watercolor paper or whatever you take to stamp on your images) and also on a thin paper like ink jet paper or big post it's. You can also buy real masking paper which is sticky on the backside.

Schneidet die Maske nun aus. Achtet dabei bitte darauf, dass ihr sehr genau schneidet und am besten immer ein Stückchen der Konturen wegschneidet, damit ihr später ungewollte Leerflächen zwischen den Motiven vermeidet. Wenn die Maske zu groß ist, schließt der "Hintergrund" nicht direkt mit denen im Vordergrund stehenden Motiven ab und es entstehen doofe Lücken. Die Masken "klebt" ihr dann über euer Hauptmotiv. Post-It's kleben an einer Seite ja von allein, daher sind sie für's Maskieren ganz gut geeignet, mittlerweile bin ich aber auf das richtige Maskenpapier umgestiegen. Ansonsten achtet bitte darauf, dass ihr non-permanente Klebe benutzt (oder Tesafilmröllchen, die aber nicht zu sehr kleben dürfen), weil ihr die Maske nach dem Stempeln natürlich wieder entfernen müsst.

Now you have to cut out the mask. Please make sure that you cut on the outlines and in the best case you cut away a bit of them. If the masks are too big you will have ugly white spaces between the image and the "background". Then stick your mask onto your main image. Post-it's are self sticky, they are great for masks. I'm using the real masking paper now but all the other things are great, too. Please make sure that you are using non-permanent glue for your masks or scotch tape, because you have to remove the mask after stamping.

Nun müsst ihr euch überlegen, wie ihr die Motive miteinander kombinieren wollt. Ich habe Tulpen in Leisels Schubkarre gestempelt, damit sie nicht so leer ist.

Now you have to decide how you want to combine your images. I added some tulips to Leisel's wheelbarrow, because it was too empty.

Jetzt benötige ich für jede Tulpe eine eigene Maske, damit mein "Hintergrund" nicht später in die Tulpenköpfe gestempelt wird.

Now I need a mask for every tulip head, because I don't want to stamp my "background" into the flower's heads later.

Da ich die kleine Leisel mit ihrer Schubkarre vor einen Zaun stellen möchte, stempele ich jetzt den Zaun über mein Hauptmotiv (nachdem alle Masken auf ihrem Platz "kleben").

As I want to have Leisel standing in front of the fence I now stamp the big fence over my main image (after all my masks are on their place).

Ihr könnt eure Szenen natürlich noch erweitern! In meinen Szenestempeljahren habe ich Szenen mit 18 verschiedenen Stempeln gestempelt *grins*. Nachdem eure Szene fertig gestempelt ist, entfernt ihr noch die Masken (nicht wegtun, man kann sie immer wieder gebrauchen).

Of course you can extend your scenes! In my scene stamping times I created scenes with 18 different images *grin*. After your scene is finished you have to remove all the masks (but don't throw them away, you can use them again and again).

Nun müsst ihr eure Szenen nur noch colorieren und Karten daraus machen.

Now you only have to color your image and make a card.

Was ihr euch merken müsst ist, dass die Motive, die im Vordergrund stehen sollen, auch zuerst gestempelt werden. Ihr arbeitet sozusagen in Schichten. Wenn man den Dreh erstmal raus hat, dann macht es total viel Spaß. Und vorsicht - Suchtgefahr!!!

What you have to remeber is that you always have to stamp the images, which are standing in front of your "backgrounds" first. You have to work in layers. If you found out how this technique is working you will enjoy it. And be careful - danger of addictions!
