Hallo zusammen! Es ist wieder Samstag und damit Zeit für eine neue Ausgabe von SEME. Heute zeige ich euch, wie die rechteckigen Körbchen gemacht werden, die ich letztes Jahr zu Ostern in allen möglichen Variationen auf meinem Blog gezeigt habe.

Hello everyone! It is Saturady and time for a new issue of SEME. Today I'd like to show you how to make the recktangle baskets I showed on my blog last year around Easter.
Ihr braucht:
- Cardstock in der Farbe eurer Wahl (ich benutze hier SU Savanne), 2 Bogen A4 oder 12x12
- Falzbein
- Bastelmesser
- Schneidematte
- Lineal zum Schneiden mit dem Messer
- doppelseitiges Klebeband
Optional:
- Stempelkissen zum Wischen der Kanten
- Brads
- Stanzer
- Cardstock in einer anderen Farbe als das Körbchen

You'll need:
- Cardstock in any color you like (I'll use Crumb Cake by SU), 2 sheets either A4 or 12x12
- Bone Folder
- Kraft knife
- Cutting mat
- Ruler to use with the knife
- Double sided tape
Optional:
- Ink pad to in the edges
- Brads
- Border punch
- Cardstock in a different color than your basket

Okay, let's get going!
Schneidet euren Cardstock in folgende Stücke:
1 Stück 27cm x 21cm, das Reststück von einem A4 Bogen kann man wunderbar als Henkel nehmen. Wenn ihr 12'' Cardstock nehmt, müßt ihr den Streifen eventuell etwas kürzen. 21cm ist auf jeden Fall eine ideale Länge.
8 Stücke 1,5cm breit, egal ob ihr A4 oder 12'' Cardstock nehmt, die Länge müßt ihr nicht kürzen.
Ich hab hier außerdem in einer Kontrastfarbe noch 2 Streifen in mit der Breite 1,8 cm geschnitten. Damit möchte ich eine Bordüre rund um das Körbchen setzen, die ich vorher mit dem "Cherish" Stanzer von Martha Stewart stanzen werde. Ihr könnt natürlich auch Streifen in Savanne nutzen und Stanzen müßt ihr euch auch nicht. Ihr braucht allerdings auf jeden Fall zwei Streifen, um später den Webabschluß zu verdecken.

Cut your cardstock in pieces as follows:
1 piece 27cm x 21 cm. If you use A4 cardstock you can use the leftover piece for the handle. Of course you can also use the leftover piece from a 12'' piece of cardstock, you just want to shorten it down to something around 21cm.
8 pieces with a width auf 1,5cm. You don't need to shorten those stripes.
I did use a contrasting color to use as a decorative border for the edge of the basket to hide the end of the weaving. You can either use the same color of cardstock or a contrasting one, whatever you like best. I also like to use my "cherish" punch by Martha Stewart for this border, therefore I cut the 2 stripes with a 1,8cm width, but this really depends how you would like it to look.
Jetzt nehmt ihr euer großes Stück und falzt es einmal rund herum bei 6cm. Der grüne Teil der Grafik ist nach dem Schneiden Müll.
Jetzt meßt ihr immer 1,5cm ab und macht eine kleine Markierung. Auf den langen Seiten müßt ihr nach dem Schneiden 10 Streifen haben, auf den kurzen 6 Streifen.
Die gestrichelten Linien mit einem Lineal und Bastelmesser schneiden.

Now take your biggest piece of cardstock and score it on all four sides at 6cm. The green part you see in the picture will be waste after you finished cutting.
For the remaining part's you'll need to measure and mark every 1,5cm. When you are done there should be 10 stripes on the long sides and 6 stripes on the short sides.
Use your ruler and knife to cut at the dotted lines.
So sollte es fertig dann aussehen.

This is what it should look like when you are done.
Dieser Schritt ist komplett optional. Wenn ihr mögt, dann nehmt euch jetzt ein Stempelkissen eurer Wahl und wischt sämtliche Kanten. Das macht ein bißchen Arbeit, aber es gibt eurem Körbchen später viel mehr Kontrast und Tiefe, es lohnt sich.

This step is completely optional. But if you like take an ink pad of your liking and ink around all the edges of your cardstock pieces. This sure is a bit of work, but it'll give a great contrast and depth to the weaving later and it's really worth the effort.
Jetzt geht es schon los mit dem Flechten. Insgesamt werden es vier Reihen werden. Für die 1. und die 4. Reihe empfehle ich, sowohl auf die inneren als auch die äußeren Streifen Klebeband zu geben. Für die 2. und 3. Reihe reicht innen vollkommen aus. Das Klebeband muß wie auf dem Bild zu sehen für Reihe 1 immer abwechselnd auf der gewischten und auf der nicht gewischten Seite aufgegeben werden.

And now we'll start weaving. There will be 4 woven rows in total. For the 1st and the 4th one I recommend using sticky tape on the inner and the outer stripes. For the 2nd and 3rd it is more than enough to put in on the inside only. As you can see on the picture you'll need to put the tape alternatingly on the inked side and the not inked side.
Ein Streifen von eurem Cardstock reicht ungefähr für eine halbe Runde. Das nächste Stück wird dann einfach angestückelt. Ihr müßt aber immer darauf achten, daß ihr immer auf der Innenseite mit einem Streifen beginnt und endet, dann sieht man es von außen nicht.

One stripe of cardstock will roughly be enough to go halfway around the basket. The next piece will just start where the first one ended. Just take care to always start and end on the inside of the basket. This way it won't be visible on the outside that one piece wasn't enough to go completely around.
So sieht die erste Reihe dann fertig aus. Wenn ihr nur auf der Innenseite Klebeband benutzt, dann fehlt dem Körbchen noch die Stabilität, die es jetzt hat und die 2. Reihe ist schwieriger zu handhaben, weil einige Streifen fest stehen, andere aber noch halb liegen.

This is what your basket looks like when the first row is finished. If you would have used sticky tape on the inside only, your basket would be a lot more unstable and the 2nd row would be much harder to do.
Weiter geht es mit der zweiten Reihe. Wie gesagt, jetzt nur noch Klebeband auf der Innenseite, wie auf dem Bild zu sehen.

On with the second row. As mentioned for this one we'll just use tape on the inside, exactly as on the picture.
Und wenn alle 4 Reihen fertig sind, dann sollte euer Körbchen so aussehen. Jetzt seht ihr auch, warum die Bordüre sein muß, das ganze schließt nicht ganz exakt ab, aber das ist vollkommen normal.

And when all 4 rows are done, your basket should like something like this. Now you can also see why we need this border for the upper edges. You'll need to hide the end of the weaving a bit, but it's completely normal that it looks like that.
Euren Henkel könnt ihr entweder einkleben oder mit Brads befestigen, wenn er noch beweglich bleiben soll. Ich persönlich benutze auch für den Henkel gerne einen Bordürenstanzer und habe hier noch mit Schleifenband gearbeitet, aber das ist wieder komplett eurem Geschmack überlassen.

You can either glue your handle in or use brads, if you want it to be flexible. I personally like to use a border punch on the handle as well and here I also used some ribbon, but that's once again completely up to you. If you want to keep it completely clean and simple that's fine as well.
